Seniors:
No county league this weekend as we have a break until we welcome John Mitchels to Strand Road in round 5 next week.

We lie one point ahead of Mitchels in the league table ( 5 vs 4) with Mitchels having drawn two of their four games to date ( vs St Marys and Templenoe) beating Dingle with their only loss being to Beaufort. For our part, losing to Legion last weekend saw us taste defeat for the first time in the current competition so the lads will be anxious to resume winning ways and maintain their place in the group. A close encounter is anticipated and given its a local derby, the game could go either way. Throw in on Sat night is yet to be decided and will be confirmed on our website once available.

Division 5:

Our B team return to action next weekend when Kilgarvan come to Strand Road on Sunday afternoon where throw in is @14.00 . Our form has been patchy to date but the recent displays against Churchill and Asdee were encouraging so another good display is hoped for.

Charlie Kerins:

We had our first outing in this competition on Friday night last when going under to Cordal on a final score line of 1-15 to 1-11. This was a game where we were competitive throughout and with a bit of luck could have come away with the spoils.

Team: Cillian Moran, Gavin Ryan, Kieran Mangan, Keith Brosnan, Aidan Mangan, Jason O’Leary, Anthony O’Connor, Thomas McGrath, Shane O’Sullivan, Gearóid Hartnett, Rory Molloy, Donagh O’Brien, Shane Flavin, James O’Connor, Ken Savage.

U-17: A special under 17 competition will take place over the coming two weeks, based on teams of 9 a side, the competition kicks off this coming Weds night May 23rd at various venues throughout the county. We are hosting our group in Strand Road where the opposition will be provided by Gneegeguilla and Glenbeigh/Glencar. Games will be 12 minutes in each half, and 16 teams from 24 will advance round 2 which will be played on Monday 28th.

Registration:
Membership is now overdue so if you have not renewed to date please do so as soon as possible.

Lotto:
There was no winner of last week’s jackpot of €4,000 where the winning numbers drawn were: 6, 8, 24 & 30. Noreen O’Connor matched 3 and wins €25. Tickets ( €2/3 for €5) can be had from the following outlets: Charlies Bar in the club, Morans Foodstore on Strand Road, Counihans on Princes St or Foley’s Spar on the Castlemaine Road.

The five entrants for the special December draw ( 4 X €250) are as follows: Rosie O’Sullivan, Elizabeth Scanlon, Cayden Roche, Dick Boyle & Martin Hughes.

Sympathy:
Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Brendan Moriarty of Cahill’s Park who passed away at the weekend – ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dilis.

U-14s:
Our U-14s will contest the final of this year’s county league division 2 when they will take on Fossa in Ballymacelligott  on Weds night next ( 23rd)  where throw in is @19.00

This team has been playing some great football all year under the watchful eyes of bainisteoir Barry O’Shea and selectors Ger O’Brien and Shane Flavin.

They topped their  group in the league stages, gaining 8 points from a possible 10 shooting a total of 19-46 in the process  – ironically, the only game they lost was to Fossa, the opener in Strand Road on a score line of 0-09 to 0-04 in late March. Since then, they have been improving steadily, are also in the final of the Coiste Trá Lí where they will play Austin Stacks ( due to be played on Thursday 24th next in Na Gaeil @ 19.00)  and have already picked up some silverware when winning our own Donal Walsh Livelife Memorial tournament on May bank holiday weekend. This promises to be a cracking game and one not be to be missed if at all possible.

U-12s:

A&B Teams played their first match in phase two of the County League this evening at home in Ballyrickard at 6pm.

It was a wet evening, the umbrellas were up, a good crowd watching on despite the weather.

The A Team played extremely well. They showed some excellent skill, working well together as a team.

They were comfortably ahead throughout the whole match, being up by 9 points at half time

Despite the lead and a wet ball, they came out a with fierce de termination in the opening of the 2nd half and won by 10 points in the end proving to be the stronger side.

Final score KoR 5-13

John Mitchel’s 4-6

The B Team played brilliantly. This team seems to be improving with each match. They put in a superior performance against a strong Mitchels outfit, with great effort and skill shown all over the pitch. Having been down at half time, they came out with fire in their bellies in the 2nd half and never gave up. They kept fighting, just losing out by 1point at the final whistle.

Final Score KoR 4-9

Mitchels  5-7

Ladies:

U12 GIRLS
Last Tuesday evening our girls hosted Laune Rangers in the second round of The Co. League, Division 2 in Ballyrickard.
Laune Rangers got off to a great start when their big midfield star scored 2 great goals with her strong accurate left foot before we responded with a pointed free from Aoibhin MacCarthy.
We were playing a bigger and stronger team, however we managed to put 2 more points on the board before Killorglin responded with a third goal to make the score 3-0  to 0-3 at the half time whistle.
In the second half Killorglin were playing with the breeze and it was not long before they added a fourth goal to their tally. The odds did not look good now for the Strand Road girls however they continued to battle and were awarded a free which Aoibhin MacCarthy blasted to the roof of the net reducing the lead to 6 points again. This marked the start of the comeback for The Blues as we scored another point and they responded with their first and final point to make the score 4-1 to 1-04.
Laune Rangers would not score again. Aoibhin MacCarthy took a pass on the 13m line and sent a low hard shot to the back of the net. We now trailed by only 3 points and the fight back was in full swing. We began to dominate around the middle as Killorglin tired. We kicked 4 more points in the last ten minutes coming from Kelly Fitzgerald, Lauren Doody
(0-1) and Aoibhin MacCarthy …
When the final whistle blew there was great excitement as players and parents alike were overjoyed with the magnificent comeback on the night. The joy was palpable, it was truly a great win. There were great performances all round especially from Millie O’ Brien in goal who pulled off some great saves , Ava Ward, from Rachel Foley ( capt.) , Saoirse MacCarthy and Lauren Doody in the backs , from Sophie Hassett, Ella O’ Connor and Kelly Fitzgerald (0-3) upfront and especially Aoibhin MacCarthy (2-4) who was our top scorer.
Team on the night: 1. Millie O’ Brien, 2. Ava Ward 3. Rachel Foley ( capt. ) 4. Millie Hayes 5. Fiadh McCarthy 6. Lauren Doody 7. Saoirse MacCarthy 8. Ella O’ Connor 9. Sophie Hassett 10.
