12 House Development In Mounthawk Gets Go-Ahead From Councillors

PERMISSION has been granted to build a 12 house development at Mounthawk, Tralee.

It was found the original plans materially contravened the objectives of the Tralee Town Development plan 2009-2015 so the councillors debated  amendments to the plan at the meeting of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council on Monday.

The plans are for 12 two-storey houses, access and site roadways, new site entrance, services and all ancillary works at Mounthawk.

Concerns had been raised in relation to proximity of one some of the houses to existing houses in Quarryvale.

The side of one house in question, No.12, was to be built within 1.85m of the boundary wall between the houses but councillors proposed to extend that to six metres. It was proposed houses No.7 to 11 will be relocated two metres southwards.

In the vote to the amendments, Cllr Pa Daly (SF) and Cllr Norma Foley voted against, while the other councillors voted for. Mayor of Tralee, Jim Finucane absented himself from the debate due to him having previously acted as an agent for the development.
