IT’S that time of the year again to think about your Christmas diary and what to do in that lazy week between Christmas Day and New Year’s when no-one knows what day it is.

Well if you want to get active and walk off the turkey and ham, the annual St Stephen’s Day Walk in aid of the Kerry Hospice Foundation is for you.

The walk, organised by Michael ‘Fox’ O’Connor, is held every year in memory of the late Bill Kirby who was a great supporter of the event and his family continues that tradition to this day.

The walk raised over €11,000 last year and, since the charity fundraiser began back in 1999, Fox said around €345,000 has been raised for charities.

Everyone will gather from 11am in front of Kirby’s Brogue Inn on Rock Street where there’ll be music and a festive atmosphere, before setting off on the walk at 11.30am.

The walk will depart from the Brogue Inn, up Rock Street and Monavalley, over to the Bracker Regan Road, down Caherslee then back to The Rock through Pembroke Street.

After the walk, participants will get a chance to warm up after with hot drinks back at the Brogue Inn after a job well done.
