KILLARNEY will receive 55 refugees into the town in the coming days.

They will be accommodated in Linden House on the New Road which has previously housed asylum seekers.

Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, has expressed concern that the local community and Kerry County Council had not been consulted by the Department of Justice.

Although the Department did not give the breakdown of age, gender or country of origin of those that will be accomodated in Killarney, Michael Healy Rae believes the group of 55 are all males and of mixed nationality.

The Department said that they are persons who are seeking international protection in Ireland.

Refugees – No, they are illegal economic migrants and the Irish taxpayer should pay for our own native Irish population who are homeless not people entering the Irish state under questionable circumstances from the EU. They should be jailed.
