Peggy Fitzgibbon, Mary Fitzgibbon and Sinead Fitzgibbon from Kenmare, with TV3’s Aisling Ni Choisdealbha at the Irish Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day launch 2016.

THE Irish Cancer Society has called on the Kerry public to volunteer as support on Daffodil Day is needed more than ever.

The event, which takes place on March 11, raises money for the  Irish Cancer Society’s free nationwide services for those with, and affected by, cancer in Ireland.

Daffodil Day is the biggest and longest running fundraising event for the society, which is Ireland’s national cancer charity.

Each year, thousands of volunteers around Ireland sell pins and flowers. To raise much needed funds, the pins and flowers are sold on the street, in businesses, homes and shopping centres.

The charity is looking for more volunteers to contribute, big or small, to the day.

For more information, you can visit www.cancer.ie/daffodilday.

If you would like to volunteer, or organise a Daffodil Day event in your area, you can call 1850 60 60 60 to register.
