Tralee Fenit GreenwayTHE Friends of the Tralee-Fenit Greenway are to walk the line next Sunday and are hoping to be joined by as many members of the public as possible.

“We last Walked the Line in protest nearly four years ago in April 2012,” reads a press release from the group.

“Since then, the Tralee Urban section has been completed and proving as expected to be a great asset to the town. Walk with family and friends on Sunday next February 7 to celebrate this success and also to publicly highlight the absence of any meaningful progress on the conversion of  the rural section from Tralee to Fenit.”

“Kerry County Council now have full authority from CIE to proceed with the development of this publicly owned disused rail line but again there is a lack of will to see this fantastic project through to completion,” the group says.

They argue that completion of the work will provide a safe off-road route for commuters, people will be able to cycle a greenway from a mainline train station to a Blue Flag Beach.

If you would like to join them the assemble at St. Brendan’s Church carpark on Sunday at 2.30pm for 3pm departure.

If they can do it fom West Port to achill no reason why it can’t be done from tralee to fenit…. think lof the business it would bring to the village of fenit….not to mention the exposure…

  4. The urban off road walkways are a fantastic ammenity…a route from Tralee to fenit would be brilliant….
