THE Irish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) have awarded Coláiste Gleann Lí, Tralee, the ‘Shield’ Anti-Bullying Flag in recognition for their work in strengthening their preventative and proactive approach to bullying.
Several schools in Kerry have decided take action to positively engage with the ISPCCs Shield Campain, but Coláiste Gleann Lí is the first in the county to take extra steps to reach the six necessary criteria to attain this award.
Some of the steps include completing the ISPCC Shield My School of Anti-Bullying Toolkit, ensuring a dedicated Anti-Bullying coordinator is assigned within the school and installing the ISPCC ‘Stand Up’ Report Tool to their web page.

Richard Lawlor, Principal of Coláiste Gleann Lí, said; “this award is a testament to our core values of learning, caring, respect and inclusion and we are very proud, but not surprised, to be the first school in Kerry to receive the ‘Anti-bullying flag’.”
The prestigious flag sends a message to the local community that the school has made concrete efforts and is dedicated to working hard in preventing bullying. The ISPCC commended the school on their continuous efforts over the last few months.
The ISPCC invites other post-primary and also primary schools, local sporting clubs with a juvenile section, youth clubs and preschools in Kerry to participate in the Shield Anti Bullying Campaign.
