Tony O’Shea of Ambri Boards presents a special handcrafted Proclamation of Independence to Kerry County Council, accepted by Cathaoirleach of KCC, Pat McCarthy.

A TRALEE businessman has presented a special handcrafted Proclamation of Independence to Kerry County Council.

The presentation was made last Tuesday, February 9, in the Council chamber to Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Pat McCarthy, by Tony O’Shea of the Tralee-based company, Ambrí Boards.

The proclamation – carved from wood from a 140 year-old elm tree which came from County Dublin – will be displayed in the Council chamber to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising.

Cllr McCarthy said he was honoured to accept the piece from Tony O’Shea and said it would be a fitting addition to items on display in County Buildings.

“Tony has made a great success of his Tralee-based business which manufactures handcrafted serving and chopping boards. He has come up with a wonderful idea for the 1916 centenary and his creation will look very well on the wall of the Council chamber,” said Cllr McCarthy.

Tony O’Shea said they are getting great interest in the limited edition Proclamations of Independence and have sent some to high profile individuals in England and America.

“These are fabulous pieces of furniture which will be passed down through generations. I’m delighted to have presented one of the limited edition pieces to Kerry County Council,” he said.
