ELYSHA Brennan, the Rose of Tralee, has challenged young men from all over Ireland to see if they have what it takes to be one of the 68 Rose Escorts at this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival from August 17-23.
The deadline of March 31 is fast approaching and guys, aged between 21 and 30, are being encourage to apply to take part in a life-changing experience at one of the most famous international festivals in the world.
This year there is a new selection process with the participation of more Roses, meaning more Rose Escorts – 68 in total – will get to experience the extended festival in Tralee.

The primary role of a Rose Escort is to look after his Rose and ensure her time at the festival is a memorable and enjoyable one.
The successful candidates will take part in a team-building Boot Camp in June at a stunning location in Kerry and participate in festival events in August including the Gala Rose Ball, Parades and seven full days of entertainment.
The 2015 Rose of Tralee, Elysha Brennan, said: “I can guarantee that all of the lads who decide to sign up for this year’s festival will have the time of their lives. While there are responsibilities that come with the role, they will all manage to have great craic in Tralee! The friendships made during the festival are lasting!”
In order to be eligible to be a Rose Escort at the Rose of Tralee International Festival applicants must be:
• 21 years of age by 1st January 2016 and not have reached your 31st birthday on or prior to 1st September 2016
unmarried or never been married;
• Born in Ireland or of Irish origin by virtue of one of your ancestors having been born in Ireland;
• Available for Selection events and if selected be available for the International Festival events from August, 17 – 23, 2016 in Tralee
One of the 68 gentlemen will be announced as the Rose Escort of the Year live on RTE One television on Monday, August 22.
The 2015 Rose Escort of the Year, Shane Kenny, from Tralee, said: “Becoming a Rose Escort in 2015 has proven to be one of the best decisions of my life. Words cannot describe the amount of fun, laughter and once-in-a-lifetime experiences I have gone through. It has given me the opportunity to meet so many new and interesting people from all over the world and it is something for which I will always be grateful.”
Each candidate will be charged an application fee and should he be chosen as a Rose Escort, he will be required to obtain sponsorship of €1500.
