Just last month, the Castleisland native was named in the ‘Tractor Boys’ squad for their FA Cup third-round replay against Portsmouth.

McLoughlin has been capped for Ireland U18’s and is currently on a scholarship at Ipswich.

He joined the club from St Brendan’s Park in July 2013, signing a two-year scholarship with Ipswich. In April 2015, that scholarship was extended for the 2015-16 season.

The highlight for him so far while at the east of England club was helping Ipswich to win a FA Youths Cup last season.

Currently, Ipswich are lying in 10th place, seven points adrift of the play-off places, but with McCarthy’s record anything is possible for the Suffolk side.
