Ben’s award celebrated the work of someone for their lasting and outstanding contribution to student life in Ireland. Over the course of their college career, he demonstrated leadership and actively participated in activities that had a positive impact on the student body.

“I’m absolutely honoured,” Ben told TraleeToday.ie this morning. “I don’t believe that my contribution has been outstanding. I’m lucky that I’m surrounded by outstanding people who I get the chance to work with,” said Ben who has been SU President for two years. He finishes up as President in June and heads off on the Washington Ireland Programme in June to Intern with FedNet on Capitol Hill.

Bang FM won their award for running a night at the dogs at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium for the 3Ts charity involved in mental health awareness and suicide prevention. They were delighted to win their award as their post on their Facebook page explains:

“All our committee and society members worked so hard on our event and this is just the icing on the cake. It’s a huge honour and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the students, our local community and especially the 3Ts. The 3Ts are such an important charity as they are involved with suicide prevention and they were so helpful when we were planning our event. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped out with our event!”

Well done to all guys, doing the town and the institute proud!
