Mallow Under 11 Camogie Blitz:
Great excitement Saturday morning as the Tralee Parnells under 11 Camogie team headed off to the blitz in Mallow. Well done to Katie Dwyer and Saoirse Maloney for travelling with the team to take part in the young referee mentorship programme.

We have some extracts available of match reports from our 3 games against Tipp, Cork and Limerick opposition.  Game 1: Ballina  vs Tralee Parnells.

This game was the first official outing for some of these players, did they let it bother them; no they did not, lead by Lana, who showed why and how to score goals by hand/stick and foot if needed. They got a strong foothold in the game and were never in bother with claiming their first win at this level.

Game 2: Inniscarra vs Tralee Parnells.  This proved a sterner test as they lost the critical battles that lead to scores by the opposition, even in defeat they still finished strong and in reverse the younger girls showed they had no problem dealing with some hard hits and giving back also.

Game 3: Monaleen vs Tralee Parnells.  Some tactical switches worked well, playing tighter together and a reformed back line of normal attacking play makers. This forward line found it harder to break through for goals than the previous games throughout this event, they eventually broke down the defence lines but had to settle for long range scores.

This panel showed great defending and attacking play in a wind swept Mallow, with four under 10s playing up and only meeting the girls officially last Friday night it was great to see from a coaching point of view.

The older girls on the panel did what they do.  We had a sing along on the way home Ed Sheeran: which also captured the atmosphere of the day.

All in total had a good day it was a farewell to some and a welcome to others on their first bus ride to a Munster Blitz. Onwards and Upwards.  The Referee MENTOR for our group was well impressed with our representatives on show; across two pitch locations who deserve a notice of praise also. Roll on next Year.
