A Junior Triathlon Club Has Been Launched In Tralee

A NEW junior triathlon club has also been launched – already with 30 members – with the ultimate aim of introducing children to the sport of triathlon.

Triathlon is a growing sport in Kerry and with this in mind Tralee Triathlon Club are now are encouraging everyone to come and join the club and make 2016 the year they fulfil their dream of completing a triathlon.

The club, which was first founded in 2009, now has more than 165 members and it is hoped that this will continue to grow this year.

The idea of the Tralee Junior Tri Club is the brainchild of club chairperson, Siobhan Griffin, who is a mother of three and wants to introduce children to the sport of triathlon.

“The club is for everyone, no matter what their abilities or age. The junior club will ensure that the whole family can be part of this wonderful club and fulfil their abilities,” said Siobhan.

The junior club, is open to children, siblings and grandchildren of senior members of the Tralee Tri Club to encourage families to take up sport and say healthy and fit together.

The club, held their first event of the year, on Sunday last at Tralee Sports Complex, a club Aquathon for both adults and children, and in total more than 60 participants took part.

“It was a great success, we had a fantastic day and thanks is due to everyone who supported us,” says Siobhan.

“Thanks is especially due to Tralee Tri club swimming coach, John Edwards, event co-ordinator, Paula Casey and all the volunteers as well as Tralee Sports Complex.”

The club have just launched their new training programme for the forthcoming year and there is something for everyone.

With the three disciplines of swimming, biking and running, and a host of coaches in place, Tralee Triathlon Club will help you reach your goals this year.

The club is open to beginners and to more advanced athletes and it will help you make new friends, get fit and reach your own personal goal whether it is lose weight or to complete a new challenge.

Club chairperson, Siobhan Griffin, is urging people to make 2016 the year you join Tralee Triathlon Club.

“We are here to help everyone reach their goals and help support them in any way they can. We train together as a group and we have some of the best coaches in the county so come along and join Tralee Triathlon Club, you won’t regret it.”

The club, will also be launching, their annual Triathlon, in a few weeks. It is taking place on July 30th in Fenit and is going to be one of Kerry’s biggest sporting events.
