TWO Mercy Mounthawk students will head to the south of France this winter to represent Ireland at the GTTP (Global Travel and Tourism Partnership) conference thanks to a project on the Rose of Tralee.

Fifth year students Michalina Gora and Cora Savage are off to Nice from November 23rd-27th with teacher Olivia Dineen thanks to completing a project with fellow students Ellie Sugrue and Isobel Keane.

The girls completed the project with guidance of Ms. Dineen since February this year, when they were in Transition Year.

The title of the Research Award competition was “Events Tourism” and the group focused their project on their local international festival, The Rose of Tralee.

Over the summer the group attended various events, with great support from the Rose of Tralee International Festival who sponsored tickets for the girls to attend this year’s Kerry Rose selection, the Rose of Tralee Fashion show and also shadowed Will Nolan from the Social Media team to gather data for their project.

They were delighted to be deemed winners of the national competition and look forward immensely to representing their country and presenting their findings at the global conference in Nice next month.
