U10 team that played Kilmoyley last Sunday evening.
CONGRATULATIONS : to Darragh O’Connell, who was recently selected on the AIB Club Hurling All-Stars team for 2018 from all in Abbeydorney GAA.
CÚL CAMPS : Hurling Cúl Camp will take place in Abbeydorney from 23rd to 27th July. Cost is €60 per child with with reductions for additional members of families. Open to primary school children, boys and girls between 6 and 13 years of age. Monday’s to Friday’s, 10.00a.m. – 2.30p.m. daily. Further details at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.
U10 : Our U10 team played Kilmoyley in a challenge game in Kilmoyley last Sunday morning. There was a great display of skill and talent among our young hurlers. Team: Luke Clifford, Josh Peevers, Matt Griffin, Tadhg Hegarty, Adam Hogan, Ciarán Ross, Daniel Nolan, Brendan Clifford, Aaron Donovan, Sean O’Connell, Patrick Murphy, Eoin Mangan.
U12 : In Round 3 of the Co. League, we played Causeway last Thursday evening and came away with an impressive win on a scoreline of Abbeydorney 6-06 to Causeway’s 3-03, making it 2 wins from 3 in the competition to date. The team on the night was : Tomás Walsh, Iarla Ó hAiniféin, Luke Fitzmaurice, Darragh Cunningham, Ruairí Ó hAiniféin, Cian Lynch, Sonny Ryall, Jack Costello, Jason Brosnan, Bobby Fitzpatrick, John Murphy, Jody Charles, Cian Mangan. Kenmare/Kilgarvan provide the opposition in Round 4, which is due to be played on Friday May 4th. Please check with coaches re: this fixture.
U14 : Unfortunately our U14 team suffered a heavy defeat to a stronger Lixnaw team last Saturday last Saturday evening in the Co. League. They will take on Ballyduff this Monday(23rd) in Abbeydorney @ 7.00pm in the next round.
FÉILE : Abbeydorney are placed in Group A2 for the Preliminary Round of the competition this year. This Round will take place in Kenmare this Saturday, 28th April @ 11am. Joining them in this group are Kenmare/ Kilgarvan and Ballyheigue. The top team from each Group will contest the Co. Féile Division 1 Final on Monday, 7th May. The second and third teams from each group will play in the Féile B semi-finals on Saturday, 5th May with the final on Monday, 7th May.
U16 : Our U16 team has reached the Co. League semi-final which was due to be played this week. However, the game was postponed and will now be played on Thursday, May 10th -v- Ballyheigue in Ballyheigue @ 7.00pm.
MINORS : Crotta O’Neills was the opposition in the final group game of the N.K. League played in Dromakee last Sunday morning. We got off to a blistering start with a goal within seconds of the throw-in from the stick of Michael Slattery.
Further points from Cillian Spillane, Jack Sheehan and Adam Maunsell pushed us even further in front Crotta came more into the game midway through the half and they sent over a flurry of points leaving us trailing by 1 point going into the break with the half-score at 1-06 to 0-10.
The lead changed hands a number of times in the opening 15 minutes of the 2nd half with a mix-up in defence ending with the sliotar in the odorney net leaving Crotta leading once again. Abbeydorney got on top again with some great scores including a goal from Ruairí Donovan. With the defence now hinged and the forwards finding their range, we pushed on from there ensuring we secured our place in the final this weekend with a 2-19 to 1-15 victory.
The final takes place this Saturday evening -v- Causeway/Ballyheigue in Abbeydorney @ 6.30pm. Well done to all the players and management and best of luck in the final. Please come out and show your support for the final.
INTERMEDIATE : Our Intermediate team was defeated by Crotta O’Neills in the opening game of the North Kerry Intermediate League last Wednesday evening in Abbeydorney on a scoreline of : Crotta O’Neills 4-14 Abbeydorney 3-11. In Round 2, due to be played last Friday evening, Abbeydorney were unable to field a team so had to concede the game to Ladies Walk. Round 3 takes place this Thursday(26th) -v- Kilmoyley in Abbeydorney @ 8.00pm.
SENIORS : Our Senior team play Crotta O’Neills in Round 5 of the Co. League, Tuesday(24th) in Abbeydorney @ 8.00pm.
