IT’S been a very good week for two local musical societies after they received five AIMS Award nominations between them.
The Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) will hold their awards on Saturday June 13 in the Gleneagle Hotel in Killarney and there will be considerable local interest.
Tralee Musical Society received four nominations with three of these coming for their excellent ‘Sister Act’ production. And the nominees are:
• Oliver Hurley (Best Director – Sister Act)
• Jackie O’Mahony (Best Comedienne – Sister Act)
• Tralee Musical Society (Best Chorus – Sister Act)
• John Hurley (Adjudicators Special Award-for technical wizardry in creating stunning effects and bringing mood and atmosphere through complex projections)
The ‘Light Opera Society of Tralee’ has singer Aisling O’Carroll nominated for the ‘Best Female Singer’ category for her performance as Cinderella in ‘Into The Woods’.
