Aldi Donates €500 To Novas Knocklee House In Tralee

NOVAS Knocklee House in Tralee has been nominated by FoodCloud to receive a €500 donation from Aldi to help the charity support its core services this Christmas.

Novas Knocklee House on the Castlemaine Road was selected by FoodCloud to receive the Aldi donation in recognition of the essential services it provides during the Christmas season.

Novas Knocklee House is one of several charities and community organisations in Kerry that receives regular surplus consumable food donations from their local Aldi stores through FoodCloud, the not-for-profit social enterprise founded by Iseult Ward and Aoibheann O’Brien.

Aldi has reached the significant milestone of donating 1,000,000 meals to charities through FoodCloud since the partnership began. Commenting Ronan O’Doherty of Novas Knocklee House said, “We can’t thank Aldi and FoodCloud enough.  The regular donations of surplus food we receive allow us to use our budget for other essentials.  This additional €500 donation helps us further and will enable us reach out to and assist more and more people this Christmas.”

Aldi has donated over 1,000,000 meals to charities through FoodCloud since the partnership began in 2014, providing over 510 tonnes of consumable food to some 260 local charities.  This equates to a saving of over €1.5 million for the charity partners involved.

Commenting, Finbar McCarthy, Aldi’s Group Buying Director said, “We have continued to donate surplus food to Novas Knocklee House through our partnership with FoodCloud during 2017. These food donations enable it to focus its resources on its core services. We are delighted to award them an additional €500 in Aldi vouchers that will further help them deliver their vital services this Christmas.”
