Almost €2m Spent On Home Renovation Scheme In Kerry

ALMOST €2m has been spent in Kerry on 96 works carried out under the Home Renovation Scheme since its inception.

The scheme, introduced in last year’s Budget, provides tax relief to homeowners who undertake renovation and improvement to their property, using tax compliant tradespeople.

“In a great boost to the local economy,” said Kerry North/West Limerick Deputy Arthur Spring, welcoming the news.  “A total of €1,973,708 has been spent in Kerry under the government’s home renovation incentive. This sizeable spend shows how much interest there is in the scheme locally, with homeowners taking up the offer to receive a cash boost for getting works done to their property.

“This is good news not just for Kerry homeowners, but also for construction workers and retailers, creating a boost for the local economy,” he said.

“The scheme also helps tackle the black economy, by making it more attractive to hire registered carpenters, tilers, builders, electricians, among others, instead of rogue or illegitimate operators,” continued Deputy Spring.
