An Increase Of Four In Number Of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases

THERE was an increase of four in the number of confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Kerry announced this evening, with the total so far in the county at 292.

31 more deaths from the virus were reported this evening in Ireland at the daily briefing by the Department of Health.  This brings the total of people who have died after contracting COVID-19 to 1,190.

The number of people who have tested positive for the virus in the Republic of Ireland so far, now stands at 20,253 after 376 new cases were confirmed this evening.

Over 12,200 people have recovered from the virus in the community without going to hospital, while over 1,1oo patients have been discharged from hospital after recovering, which means 70% of those of who have contracted the virus so far have recovered.

Dr Tony Holohan revealed at the daily briefing that, based on the figures over the past few days, it’s highly unlikely that he will be recommending to the Government that they ease restrictions after May 5.

Kerry has the 15th most cases in the country after Dublin (9,751), Kildare (1,162), Cork (1,136), Louth (652), Meath (661), Cavan (634), Wicklow (564), Limerick (532), Mayo (478), Westmeath (461), Donegal (454), Tipperary (389), Monaghan (388) and Galway (351). The Department’s Covid-19 information dashboard can be accessed by clicking here.
