Offaly Rose Jennifer Byrne hears her name called out.

OFFALY Rose, Jennifer Byrne is Rose of Tralee 2017, the first win for the county.

She was in shock after hearing her name called out in the Dome tonight and was immediately surrounded and congratulated by her fellow Roses.

The 24 years old is from a small rural area in Offaly called Clonaderig.

She studied Medicine at NUI Galway and is currently working as a junior doctor in the Accident and Emergency department of University College Hospital Galway.

She has represented Ireland in soccer at U17 and U19 level and in the World University Games and is currently playing with Galway WFC in the Women’s National league.

She also enjoys spending time with   family, socialising with friends, travelling, table tennis and tea!

She has volunteered at Barretstown, and in Mpongwe Mission Hospital in Zambia through a charity called Volunteer Services Abroad.
