The event, ‘Celebrating Singing’ will kick-off on Friday, June 3, in Patcheen’s Pub the home of the club’s regular gatherings. There, the group of musicians and singers who have unstintingly supported the monthly singing sessions will welcome friends old and new from home and abroad to a free celebration of song.

With the support of Kerry County Council’s Arts Office, a series of free workshops are available for adults of all abilities who want to explore music and song and garner some friendly and supportive advice.

On Saturday, June 4, 10am -12noon, Liane Henderson, formerly lead singer with ‘Riverdance’, will help folk who bring a song they’d like to learn to sing.

In the afternoon, 3pm-5pm, Tralee singer/guitarist Pat Johnson best known for his work with reggae outfit ‘Avatar’, will share tips on how to best use the guitar in combination with song.

Sunday, June 5, 12-2pm will see Niamh Varian-Barry veteran of folk supergroup ‘Solas’ giving guidance to singing enthusisasts. All of these will take place at Scoil Bhreac Chluain.

The Dingle Gospel Choir will sing at 6pm in the Community Hall and the Dingle Samba Band will perform outside Hanafin’s Bar at 7pm.

At the Annascaul Community Hall on Sunday, amazing children’s entertainer Ruti Lachs will have the children singing, dancing, and most importantly laughing. Big-hearted Ruti will lead a session for babies to 6 year olds from 2pm-3pm and and then 7-12 year olds from 3.30 to 4.30pm.

Once again these events are free. However every child must be accompanied by an adult.

The weekend mix will also feature a Sunday guided walk ‘Annascaul’s Musical Heritage’ and will gather in musicians from all over Kerry with amongst others the Dingle Samba Drummers, Banna Ceoil LisPóil Marching Band, the Dingle Gospel Choir and the Tralee and Dingle Ukelele Groups.

And underpinning it all will be free evening sessions in Patcheen’s Pub featuring local singers, poets, storytellers and pipers.

Proving once again that people who sing together have a right good time! Booking line for workshops and children’s event 083-1246634.
