Another Drug Seizure Near Tralee Of €12,000 Worth Of Suspected Cannabis

The suspected cannabis seized last night near Gortatlea just outside Tralee.

GARDAI seized around €22,000 in suspected drugs yesterday near Tralee in two separate operations.

Last night Gardaí arrested a man in his 30s and seized approximately €12,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb in Gortatlea near Tralee.

At approximately 10pm, detectives from the Tralee District stopped and searched a car in Gortatlea. During the course of the search, Gardaí seized cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €12,000. The drugs will now be sent for technical analysis.

The man was arrested at the scene and brought to Tralee Garda Station and has since been charged with drug offences. He is due to appear before Tralee District court at a later date.

Meanwhile, the two men arrested in connection with the seizure of €10,000 worth of suspected heroin at Ballyseedy Woods, Tralee, yesterday at about 1.30pm, have since been charged. They are due to appear before Dingle District Court this morning, 25th January 2019 at 11am.

In that operation, gardaí seized 370 individual wraps of heroin with a street value of approximately €10,000. The suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis.

Speaking at Tralee Garda Station this morning, Superintendent Dan Keane said; “Our Divisional Drugs Unit and District Detective Unit had two excellent drug seizures last night in Tralee. Both incidents highlight the commitment that we have in Kerry in arresting people who deal drugs in our communities. Drugs have no place in our towns and villages and I would ask that if you notice anyone selling or using drugs, or you believe they may be involved in criminality, to call us.”
