Appeal For Witnesses After Alleged Assault On Garda At Beach

GARDAI are asking the public for any information after an alleged assault on a garda on Sunday afternoon.

Between 3pm and 4pm at Inch Beach yesterday, April 29, gardaí were dealing with an incident involving  two vehicles.

During the course of dealing with this incident, a male garda received minor injuries. If anyone witnessed the incident, please contact Dingle Garda Station on 066 9151522 or Tralee Garda Station on 066-7102300.

In the past two weeks, Kerry Garda Division Chief Superintendent, Tom Myers expressed concerns after statistics showed 27 gardaí in Kerry had been injured on duty since January 2017.

The vast majority of these incidents were assaults on garda members including being punched in the face and having blood spat in their face.
