THE 1st Kerry Scouts Tralee in association with Applegreen planted a tree for National Tree Day on Saturday at their HQ on Matt Talbot Road.
Applegreen has come on board to sponsor the local Scout Group, which is much appreciated by the local scouts
“We are very honoured that they have chosen a local Scout Group who has 10 adult Volunteers and a membership of 90 children ranging in age from 6yrs to 18yrs,” said a spokesperson from 1st Kerry Scouts.

“As a voluntary group all our fundraising is done locally and we depend on the generosity of our local community and of course our parents. We can’t thank Applegreen enough for their support throughout 2017. Many joint events will be held throughout the coming year at the Applegreen Station Manor. As always we would like to thank the people of Tralee for their continued support of Scouting since 1929 in Tralee town.”
The past week has also seen a member of the scouts receive an honour in Dublin.
A presentation of the chief scout award and Bronze Gaisce was made to 16 year old Ryan O’Donnell of the 1st Kerry Scouts Tralee, at a ceremony in Trinity College Dublin, hosted by Scouting Ireland and Gaisce.
Ryan is a 16 year old pupil of CBS the Green where he is studying for his Junior cert.
