THE Ardfert Camera Club met last night in Kerry County Library to host their fourth annual photography exhibition.

“There are some great pictures here that really tell a story and that’s what its about really, telling a story,” said Chairman Stephen Baker.

The group which originally started with six members in 2009,  has grown to over 50 strong in the years since. Members mainly come from from the Ardfert and Tralee areas.

The club  has the good fortune of being able to draw upon the talent and expertise of the award-winning photographer, Dylan Boyer, who gives talks with the them.

There was a wide range of styles and composition showcased on the night, one particular standout portrait was of American recording artist, St Vincent, performing live by Paul Keeling.

Destinations of the work submitted ranged from the very familiar Banna Strand and Tralee Bay Wetlands, to the remote lands of Hungary and the Faroe Islands.

“You will improve if you come to the club. We meet every two weeks in Ardfert Golf Centre, Sackville, for workshops and discussions on Tuesday nights from September through May,” said Francis Foley.

“We need to get new blood in the whole time as people do move on, but it also shakes up the group as well and keeps it interesting,” added Francis.
