Training continues on Friday evenings from 5:30-6:30.

U12

Our U12As had a fine win against Milltown/Castlemaine Sunday afternoon in Ardfert. We started brightly playing against the wind but missed a couple of good early goal chances. We got going again and led by 6pts at half time.

We let the opposition back into it early in the second half but rallied again after the water break. Final score: Ardfert 5-16 4-12 Milltown/Castlemaine.

Following last weeks close encounter with An Ghaeltacht, our Under 12B’s had a rearranged home game against Milltown/Castlemaine on Sunday. Our Captain Colm made the decision to play against the wind in the 1st half and that was to prove a master stoke as the game wore on.

From the off, Ardfert made a great start against the wind with Daragh scoring 1-1. A point from an impossible angle was added by Dylan and after some great saves and relieving clearances from JP, the boys were leading 2-1 to 0-2 at the water break.

Some great defending by captain Colm and Alan made sure they kept the score down. After the water break, Milltown made use of the wind and scored a number of quick goals with Thomas getting a great point for Ardfert.

By halftime, Milltown had moved into a 9 point lead but with Tiernan moving into midfield and dominating this area of the field and Thomas sealing up the defence, Ardfert began to take over. Daragh ended up with a hattrick of goals and Max bagged another one with Rory scoring 1-1.

Some brilliant points from Dylan, Monty and in particular William had Ardfert on top. Luke was doing great work in centre forward position winning ball and passing it off. Alan was continuing to dominate in the half back line and Eoghan played very well in the full back line. In the end it took great last gasp defending from David in the full back to secure the hard-fought result for Ardfert.

Training continues on Thursday from 6-7.

Next game for both teams is home V Finuge on Sunday next, 30th August @ 6pm.

U14

Next game is away V Legion on Wednesday 26th. Our last 2 games in Phase 2 are home V Listowel Emmets on 2nd September and home again on the 9th V Castleisland Desmonds
