Training continues on Friday evenings from 5:30-6:30. Check out Ardfert GAA Facebook for photos & updates.

U12

Our U12As came up against a very strong Ballyduff side on Sunday afternoon in Ardfert. We started brightly but struggled to score. Ballyduff didn’t miss their opportunities and had a convincing lead by half time. We regrouped, got stuck into them but the gap was just too much.

Final score: Ardfert 1-09 Ballyduff 5-19. Home game next Sunday vs Finuge.

Our U12b’s had another home game this week, this time against Ballyduff. Ballyduff started off with a quick goal but Ardfert countered with a point from Dylan. Ballyduff then took over to score 2-01 without reply. Cillian then scored a great point to leave it 3-01 to 0-2 at the water break. After the resumption, Cillian went on to score 3 more points and Alan landed a beauty.

David was playing a staring role in the half back line and JP was making some fantastic saves in goals. The deficit remained at 8 points at half time 0-6 to 4-02. However, these Ardfert boys don’t know when they are beaten and stormed back into the game in the second half with Thomas lording it in the full back line with some inspirational catches and Tiernan was sweeping up in the half back line.

With Alan, Cillian and William driving forward from midfield Max scored 2 goals and Cillian another 1-02 to bring his total for the day to 1-06. Luke then scored an inspirational point. Monty moved out to midfield and began to direct play and make some brilliant interceptions and setup some great scores.

Alan and Dylan hit some additional points. Eoghan was putting in a great display in the forwards and set up some great scores. It was also great to have Graham back who once again gave it his all and ensured Ballyduff had to work hard to clear their lines. In the last few minutes it was nip and tuck and it took a fantastic catch and clearance from Rory to ensure Ardfert ended up on the right side of a 2 point victory of 3-11 to 4-06. Check out our Facebook page for photos.

Training continues on Thursday from 6-7.

Next game for both teams is home V Finuge next Sunday.

U14

We had an unlucky night away to Killarney Legion last Wednesday when we were narrowly beaten in a fantastic game of football. Despite missing some key players, we showed our battling qualities and great heart, pushing a strong Legion side all the way.

Having fallen behind by 2-6 to 0-2 in the first quarter we managed to go into the final quarter 4 points up with some fine point kicking by Liam Óg, Tiernan, Keelin and goals from Rory. However, the huge effort it took to get back into the game took its toll and we ran out of steam in the last 10 minutes. Legion kicked the last few scores to take the win in a great display of football by both sides. Next up is Listowel Emmets at home on Wednesday 2nd, 7pm throw in.

U16

Our U16s will play in Division 1 in Phase 2 of the league with Laune Rangers, Glenflesk & Kerins O’Rahillys. First up is Kerins O’Rahillys on Monday 7th September in Tralee. We are away to Glenflesk on Saturday 12th September.  Our game against Laune Rangers which was due to be played this week will be played at a later date.

Minors

St. Brendan’s Board minors had a great win against South Kerry in the Minor Football Championship Semi Final last Monday.  They will face East Kerry in the County Final on Wednesday 2nd September at 7pm in Austin Stack Park. We wish them the best of luck, in particular the Ardfert players involved.

Seniors

We had a number of players involved with St. Brendan’s Board who defeated Legion in the Quarter final of the County Senior Football Championship.  We wish them the best of luck in the Semi Final.
