SENIORS

The draw for the Kerry Petroleum Junior Premier Club Championship took place last Wednesday. Ardfert was drawn in group 3 along with Waterville, Ballymacelligott & Keel and will play Ballymacelligott in round 1.

We begin our County Senior Football League Div 4 campaign away to Scartaglin on the weekend of 19th/20th March.

U13

Our U13As play their first game of the year on Sunday next, 6th March, against Churchill in Round 1 of the Tralee /St. Brendan’s Board Div 2 League. The game is scheduled to take place in Ardfert at 4pm. Our U13Bs have a bye in the first round and will not be in action until the following Sunday, 13thMarch, when they will host Ballymac B in Div 3. The As will travel to Kerins O’Rahillys on that date. In the final round of fixtures on 20th March the As will travel to St. Pats and the Bs will travel to Na Gaeil. Best of luck to both teams.

Training continues for all U13s at 6pm on Thursdays in the new Astro pitch.

U17

Our U17s travelled to Ballydonoghue on Saturday where they faced Moyvane in round 1 of the Minor County League Div 2. Well done on an outstanding comeback win. After being down ten points in the first half they showed fantastic spirit and never say die will to win. Final score Moyvane 3-08 Ardfert 4-07. Next up is a home fixture against Glenflesk on March 12th.

HEALTHY CLUBS INITIATIVE

Despite the cold weather, there was a good turn out for Ardfert GAA’s Ireland Lights Up Walking Campaign on Thursday evening last. The event was organised by Healthy Clubs officer, Caroline Fahy, as part of the Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs campaign. The Ireland Lights Up Walking Campaign encourages GAA clubs to switch on their flood lights and get people out walking in a safe and social environment.  The newly opened floodlit walking path at Ardfert Recreation Centre enabled us to do that and we hope to organize more events like this in the future.
