SENIORS

Ardfert hosted Cromane in round 4 of the County Football League Division 4.

Pplaying with the wind we had the better start with points from Earnán Ferris & Fionán Horgan and a goal from Jordan Brick within the first 5 minutes.

Cromane got off the mark with a pointed free from Darren Houlihan who kicked some great points over the course of the game. Jordan Brick pointed from play before another pointed free for Cromane.

2 more Ardfert points followed from Jordan Brick and Robert Monahan before Cromane got their first from play leaving the score after 15 minutes Ardfert 1-05 to Cromane’s 3 points.

Jordan got his 3rd point of the day which was followed by another well taken free from Cromane’s Darren Houlihan. David Griffin got his first point in the 23rd minute to give Ardfert a 6 point lead.

Cromane were awarded a penalty in the 26th minute which was duly converted by Darren Houlihan. Nathan O’Driscoll pointed a free for Ardfert followed by a great save from Nicholas O’Sullivan in the final minute of the half. The resulting 45 was kicked wide to leave the half-time score Ardfert 1-08 Cromane 1-04.

The 2nd half started with a couple of wides for both sides before Earnán forced a great save from Cromane keeper, Sean Teahan, who knocked it over the bar.

There were points from Cromane’s Liam Joy & Jason O’Connor as well as Ardfert’s Trevor Wallace. Cromane were really getting into their stride and Danny O’Shea, who had moved into the forward line, was causing problems for Ardfert’s defence.

Cromane scored 6 of the next 8 points with just 2 coming from Ardfert’s Robert Monahan and Earnan Ferris.

A pointed free from Darren Houlihan in the 20th minute left it all square at 1-12 apiece.  Both sides exchanged scores leaving it level with 2 minutes remaining. Late scores from Ardfert’s Nathan O’Driscoll, Robert Monahan and John Egan secured a good win for Ardfert.

Final score Ardfert 1-17 Cromane 1-15

U13

Our U13 teams travelled to Kenmare on Sunday evening and played 2 games in perfect conditions. Our A team dominated early exchanges. However, Kenmare got on top just before half time scoring 2 goals to lead on a scoreline of 2-04 to 0-09. The second half was really exciting, high quality football by both teams finishing in a draw on a score line of Kenmare 5-08 Ardfert 2-17. A great effort by all our players with really positive football.

Our Bs also played out a very exciting game with a great performance by all the lads. The game was level at half time but some great scores from our forwards and excellent defending resulted in a 6 point win. Well done to both teams. Our last round of games is in Listowel on Sunday 8th May.

U15
