ARDFERT Golf Club is to close at the end of the year.

The 170 members of Ardfert Golf Club, were informed in writing on Tuesday that the course would close its doors at the end of December.

The golf club made the announcement to the public yesterday afternoon on its Facebook page with the following statement…

“It is with great sadness and regret we have to inform you that Ardfert Golf Club trading as Ardfert Golf Centre will cease trading on 31.12. 2015. We wish to thank you for all your support over the last 22 years.”

The club has suffered from a fall off in membership and green fees revenue which has resulted in the decision.

Ardfert is the latest nine hole golf course to close in recent years following in the footsteps of, Tralee, Kerries and Ballybeggan courses. This is as result of a fall off in membership and green-fee revenues across the board in the golf industry.

Ardfert Golf Club, was founded in 1993 and was the first nine hole golf course in North Kerry.
