ARDFERT NS won the top prize today at the FÍS National Film Festival.
The pupils from Ms Holland’s fifth class at the school won Overall Film of the Year award for their entry, ‘The Gooseberry Fair’. They were up against 24 other schools from around the country.
Their entry re-enacts a story around the Gooseberry Fair which in the past took place in the village every year on July 9. You can watch the full film below.
The 30 pupils were in The Helix in Dublin today for the result and were obviously thrilled at the win where they took the stage to take the acclaim of the audience.
FÍS is a highly successful film project for primary schools that explores film as a medium of expression in relation to the arts, and introduces children to aspects of the film-making process.
