Austin StacksMCNAMEE AWARDS 2014:

Congratulations to Rory Kirby & all involved in the Austin Stacks ‘Rockumentary’ which last week was named as a winner of a “GAA McNamee Award”. These awards are held annually to honour excellence in the area of communications, public relations and journalism, specifically related to the activities of the GAA. ‘Rockumentary’ was named overall winner in the Club Project Award (Digital & Social Media) category.

This category aims to acknowledge excellence in a one-off project across all forms of public relations, communication and digital activity. This is the first such award for Austin Stacks. GAA President, Liam Ó Neill, will present the awards at Croke Park on this Saturday night 17th January. We hope that those attending on behalf of the club will enjoy a wonderful evening. Thanks to Elma Nix for the above Report.

ANNIVERSARY:

We remember at this time another great Club stalwart, Paddy Drummond, who died 20 years ago on 13th January 1995. Paddy played both Hurling and Football with the Club at the highest level for 16 consecutive seasons (1931 to 1946), winning 4 Senior Co. Championship medals – 3 in football (1931, 1932 and 1936) and one in Hurling (1931).

He was still a Senior player when he served as Vice Chairman of the Club during 1945and 1946 and when he retired as a player at the end of the 1946 season he was immediately elected Chairman and served in that capacity in 1947and 1948 and again for two seasons in 1955 and 1956. He also represented the Club at Town and County Board level for many years. His grand niece (Elma Nix) and grand nephew (Tim McMahon) carry on that great legacy of work for the Club today.
