PEIL FAOI 6/8/10: Our end-of-year Award Presentations and took place in the Clubhouse on SUNDAY last, bringing an official end to the 2016 Rock football season. A great crowd of excited youngsters attended, as did very many parents and friends.

The usual Rock buzz was felt in Connolly Park. Ronan Shanahan, our senior superstar corner back, kindly presented our young stars of the future with their medals/certificates in Connolly Park.

Go raibh maith agat, a Rónáin! Speeches were made and everybody, from peileadóirí to parents to mentors, was thanked. See Adrienne’s photos on www.austinstacks.ie. And, of course, almost everybody bought our 2017 CALENDAR – a bargain at €5!

If you haven’t got your own Féilire ’17 for Christmas, you still have time as it is on sale in Kevin Barry’s Shop and at the Clubhouse.(Might be cheaper if one asked Santa to deliver it!) All profits will be spent on óige an chlub.

PEIL FAOI 13/14: The Under 14 panelists had their Award Presentations last Saturday. The Faoi 14 boys won the County, the Central and the Town Titles.

The Under 13s won the Lee Strand Cup, the Rose Cup and the Town League Tournaments. Individual merit awards were presented to Mervyn, Shane and Cian. It was a most enjoyable occasion for everybody, young and not as young. This is a grand group of great grafters! Well done, all!

PEIL FAOI 15/16: Medal Presentations for the Under 15/16 lads took place last Friday in the clubhouse. What a really special night! These players were winners of the Central League as well as the Town Board (Roinn 2) and Under 15 County SuperTouch Competitions.

Buíochas mór le Rockie ‘legend’ Michael Collins who was on hand to present our young champions with their well-deserved medals. We had a great Question and Answer session with the star Rock scoring forward.

And the big question that was on everybody’s lips was put to him was….’will you retire this year?’ His answer was a very definite ‘NO!’ We are already looking forward to seeing the flying MC in action again in 2017.  Roll 2017 for our enthusiastic under-age and senior footballers!

IOMÁNAÍOCHT FAOI 16½: Sympathies to The Green hurlers who gave a great hurling display v Meánscoil San Nioclás, An Rinn, in last week’s U16½: Munster Hurling Final.

They started well and hurled with great passion and skill throughout the hour. However, they were unlucky against a very strong Waterford Gaeltacht team. Among the Tralee CBS hurlers were Parnell’s Tadhg Brick, Seán Hamilton, Ruairí Ó Súilleabháin, Dara Reen, Devon Burns, Dara Mac Gearailt, Jonathan Lowe, Seán Ó Drisceoil, Martin Savage, Jack Costelloe as well as Daniel Ó Ruairc (The Rock/O’Neills) and David Couchman (The Rock/O’Dorney).

It’s great to see a Tralee school competing at such a high level! And it’s nice to see a few Black’n’Amber names on the panel! Fair-play d’iománaithe agus do bhainisteoirí!

PEIL FAOI 16½: Both The Green CBS and Mercy Mounthawk footballers look forward with great excitement to the Munster Frewen Cup games on January 11th. The Green will face Coláiste Choilm, Baile an Chollaigh, and Mercy Mounthawk will tackle Coláiste Chríost Rí, Cathair Chorcaí.

Dhá chluiche mhóra! The victors in both encounters will play each other…wow!! Could the two Tralee schools meet again?

The Rock lads on the Mercy Mounthawk panel: James Quigley (4). Pádraic Ó Lionnáin (10), Dara de Barra-Breathnach (14), Mícheál Ó Gadhra (11), Craig Ó Tíocháin, Donagh Mac Mathúna, Dara Leon Shalamba. The Rock boys on the CBS panel: David Oba (1), Eoghan Ó Cearúill (7), Seán Cuiltéir (9), Daniel Ó Ruairc (10), Conchúr Ó Mír (15), David Couchman, Dean Ó Scanláin, Fearghal Ó Briain.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS: Nollaig shona do gach éinne, idir óg is aosta!
