‘LEE STRAND’ UNDER 13 FOOTBALL: (i) The 30th Austin Stack Club Under Lee Strand Invitational Tournament that took place last weekend in Connolly Park was a great success. ‘Well done’ to all who worked so hard and with efficiency and precision! Our lads hosted and defeated a good Clontarf team that won the Billy Breen Shield.

We also overcame Na Piarsaigh (Cork) and Naas (semi-final). We witnessed an exciting final v Galway’s Bóthar na Trá/Cnoc na Cathrach on Sunday. Our boys played outstandingly but it wasn’t our day. Comhghairdeachas le muintir na Gaillimhe…they were 0-4 a better team!

We thank Jerry O’Dwyer and Lee Strand for the 30th year of sponsorship! All teams and scores in our Juvenile Notes onwww.austinstacks.ie. The Lee Strand Cup was won by Salthill/Cnoc na Cathrach.

The Billy Breen Shield was won by Clontarf. The Abie Allen Plate was won by Legion. Best player in the final was our own Luke Chester. Player of the Tournament was Galway’s George Hill and the James Hobbert Trophy was presented to him by Patsy Hobbert.

Speakers at the Presentation Ceremony were: Tim McMahon (Juvenile Chairman), Aidan O’Connor (Cathaoirleach), Brendan Dowling (Uachtarán an Chlub), Dave Scanlon (Bainisteoir na Foirne), Bainisteoir Fhoireann na Gaillimhe (Bóthar na Trá/Cnoc na Cathrach) agus Tadhg Ó Síocháin (Fear an Tí).

PEIL FAOI 14: Tralee Town Board Under 14 League: We were defeated (by 0-3) for the first time since March in a classic encounter at the Spa on Sunday evening. However, if we defeat Na Gaeil and they defeat Churchill, we will be successful in completing a season’s ‘clean sweep’. The Na Gaeil v Churchill game was fixed for Wednesday 16th at 6.30 pm. We’ll play Na Gaeil in Connolly Park on Wednesday 23rd i mbabhta a 2 den tSraith.
