1977 REUNION: There was a very special occasion of nostalgia and fun in the Clubhouse last Saturday night (Dec 2nd) to mark the famous All Ireland Club Championship winning team of 1977.

Tim Moynihan (Radio Kerry’s Terrace Talk Presenter) did a brilliant job of introducing and interviewing the players of that era and our Juvenile Club President and Club PRO back in 1977, Michéal Hayes was there to make the presentation to each player.

All present enjoyed reliving the video footage from the 1976 Co. Final and the All Ireland Club final of 1977.

THE CENTENARY BOOK: It is said that ‘long threatening comes at last’ and after a long period in the making it appears that the Centenary Book is about to make an appearance just in time for the Christmas market.

The Printer is working overtime as we write in order to have it ready for launch in the next few days, hopefully. Club Secretary, Elma Nix has already made quite a number of sales online. Price €25. Pre-bookings can continue to be made by texting Elma at 086 1053300.

HURLERS PRESENTATION: Adrienne McLoughlin informs us that our Hurlers gathered in Connolly Park on Saturday evening to present their two Perpetual Shields for 2017 – The Players ‘Player of the Year’ which was shared by Andrew Morrissey and Eoghan McKivergan – and The Andrew McAllen ‘Player of the Year’ which was presented to Ronan “Pip” Gilsenan.

She informs us that they then headed off on a mystery bus tour to celebrate their annual Christmas Party. See the Club Website for Adrienne’s photographs of the event.

CONGRATULATIONS: And mention of Hurlers all in the Club wish to congratulate former Hurler, John McCarthy (B-Mobile) and his wife Katrina, on the recent birth of their son, Tom.

CLUBHOUSE: As always the Clubhouse is available for all types of Parties and Functions. Enquiries about Club Bookings should be made by contacting Harry Hynes at 087 2467286.

CARDS: The 45 Card Sessions continue in the Clubhouse on every Monday and Thursday nights, commencing at 9.30pm each night.

All at the Cards were saddened to learn of the death of Angela Weir at the weekend. Angela was a regular at our Card sessions every Monday and Thursday nights right up to the time she became ill just a few weeks ago.

We extend our sincere sympathy to her son Paddy, daughters Mai and Loretto and to all her extended family (including her grandson, Seán Weir – current Crotta and Kerry Senior Hurler) and friends (see Sympathy).

LOTTO: Last week’s (27th November) Jackpot, worth €7,100, was not won. The numbers drawn were 12, 13, 19, 32. The €20 winners were: Sheila Counihan, c/o The Club; Andrew Foley, c/o The Hurlers; Bridie Fitzgerald, c/o Carmel O’Neill; Lorraine Healy, c/o Richard Healy; and Donnchadh O’Regan, c/o Brendan O’Regan.

Tickets are on regular sale at the Rock Street Post Office and at the Stacks Clubhouse, as well as from our other regular sellers.
