CLUB AGM: There was a good attendance yesterday (14th Jan) at the Club’s Annual General Meeting where all of the current Executive Committee members were re-elected for the coming season.

Wide-ranging reports by Liam Lynch (Chairman), Elma Nix (Secretary) and Michael Kenny (Treasurer) were presented to the meeting followed by general discussions on a number of topics, some of which will be discussed further at future Executive Meetings.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: It’s just over a week away now before our first outing of the new season – round one of the Town League at home to Ballymac on Sunday, 28th January at 12.30pm.

The top two teams will qualify for the final which is fixed for the weekend of the 4th March.

The Co. League fixtures have also come to hand. Our first game will be away to Kilcummin on 11th March. Of our eleven games we will have six at home and five away. Our remaining games are as follows (dates are indicative at present) – R2 Kenmare (home) 25th March; R3 Ballymac (home) 1st or 22nd April; R4 Glenflesk (away) 12th May; R5 Dromid (home) 27th May; R6 Ardfert (away) 10th June; R7 Currow (home) 17thJune; R8 Milltown/Castlemaine (away) 30th June; R9 Listowel Emmets (home) 14th July; R10 Na Gaeil (away) 29th July; Last Round Castleisland Desmonds (home) date tbc.

There will also be a new set-up for this season’s Club Championship. The eight teams will be divided into two groups which will be run-off on a round robin basis. That means each team will have three round robin games, one at home, one away and the third at a neutral venue with the top teams in each group qualifying for the final and the bottom two teams involved in a relegation play-off. The games are fixed (subject to other events) for the first three Sundays in April and the final on 29th April.
