END OF SEASON: Senior Football: Our Seniors had a mixed season. As usual we participated in five competitions. We won just one, which was our primary aim of the season, that was Division 2 of the Co. League which secured promotion back to the top division after spending just one season in Division 2.

After losing the first game of the League we then went on to win the next ten rounds finishing on top of the group with 20 points to be followed by Kilcummin and Na Gaeil on 15 points each, both of whom were also promoted.

W reached the finals of both the Tralee Town League and Championship. In the League we lost to John Mitchels (2-5 to 0-8) and in the Championship we went down to Kerins O’Rahillys (1-7 to 0-8).

The remaining two competitions were at County level. In the Club Championship we had good wins against Kerins O’Rahillys (1-15 to 0-13) and An Ghaeltacht (0-15 to 1-9) but lost to Dr. Crokes (0-18 to 1-10) in the last round. Again in the Co. Championship we had good wins in the first two rounds against Kenmare District (2-22 to 0-6) and South Kerry (4-7 to 1-15) but exited the competition at the Qr. Final stage with a below par performance against Dingle (3-9 to 0-9).

In the 25 games played during the course of the season we won 20 and lost 5 and a total of 52 players lined out at one stage or another during the year. The top four scorers were Darragh O’Brien (4-78; David Mannix (3-58; Ferdia O’Brien (7-37) and Shane O’Callaghan (6-29).

The man with the highest number of appearances during the season was Pa McCarthy (24), followed with 23 each by Shane O’Callaghan and both of the O’Brien brothers, Darragh and Ferdia. Two other players topped the 20 mark – Jack O’Shea (22) and team captain Shane Guthrie (21).

Well done to all involved for giving of their best during the season – players, team management, Club members and supporters.

GET WELL SOON: All in the Club extend best wishes to former Club Footballer and current Juvenile Mentor, Malachy Nagle for a full and speedy recovery from the illness which suddenly manifested itself last Friday.
