Austin StacksSEASON’S GREETINGS: We wish all our members, supporters, and all readers of these Notes a very happy Christmas.

REVIEW OF THE 2014 SEASON: Last week we covered Hurling and Junior Football. This week we cover Minor Football and U21F while in the issue of 31stDec we will cover Senior Football.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minors took part in 3 Competitions – The Town League, The Co. League and The Co. Championship – winning the Town League. In all 31 players lined out in the 13 games played – winning 5 and losing 8.Michael O’Donnell was top scorer with 2-39 followed by Seán Fitzmaurice 5-9, Ciarán Flanagan 3-12, Jessie O’Sullivan 5-3 and Seán Dukes 2-11.
Thanks to Tim McMahon, Colm Mangan, John O’Sullivan and, earlier in the season, Seán Power.
Well done to Jack Morgan and Seán Ryan who were part of Kerry’s All Ireland winning team in 2014. It’s worth noting that in Kerry’s 12 All Ireland Winning teams since 1931 there was only one winning year (1975) in which the Rock had no player on the squad.

U21 FOOTBALL: The U21s played in 2 Competitions – the County Championship and the Club Championship. They played two games in each competition, winning the first round in each but also losing at the quarter final stage in each.
They scored a total of 12-54 in the 4 games with Darragh O’Brien chief scorer on 4-22, followed by Eamon McAllen on 2-6 and Greg Horan on 2-3.
Probably the most pleasing stat is that of the 29 who played with the U21s in 2014, 26 of them will be eligible to play again in 2015. The age levels of the 29 who lined out in 2014 were as follows – 3 were 21; 7 were 20; 9 were 19; 4 were 18 and a further 6 were just 17.
Thanks to Tim McMahon, Colm Mangan and John O’Sullivan for their dedication with the squad during the season.

BIRTHDAY GREETINGS; And the aforementioned Tim McMahon celebrated the big four nought last week (17th Dec). And those who are good at sums will know that it’s definitely 40 because Tim played in all 8 Minor games with the Club in 1992. In one game he scored a spectacular goal, 3 minutes into the second half, in a Town Championship game against Ballymac. David Tiernan’s shot came off the post and Tim was on hand to put the rebound in the net.
That team lined out as follows – Ian Russell, Ger Scollard, Owen McKenna, John Slattery, Tommy O’Connor, Liam Carroll (0-1), Don Shanahan, Brian Culloty (1-0), Shane Lucid, David Tiernan (0-3), Jerry Lynch (1-1), Tommy Kerins (0-3), David Jones, Laurence Cotter (0-1), Tim McMahon (1-0). Sub used: Cathal Broderick (48m). The Rock won the game by 3-9 to 2-6.
Happy birthday Tim from everyone in the Club.

LOTTO: Last Monday’s (15th Dec) Jackpot worth €5,000 was not won. The numbers drawn were 8, 18, 24, 32.
