Club AGM:   Due to Covid 19 restrictions and following guidance from Croke Park, this year’s Club AGM will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams on Wednesday 13th January, 2021 at 7.30pm.  If you wish to participate please email secretary.austinstacks.kerry@gaa.ie and a link “to join the meeting” on January 13th will be emailed to you.  A copy of the 2019 minutes, Agenda, Secretary’s Report, Finance Report & Chairman’s report will be emailed to all those attending in advance of the meeting.

To help manage the meeting in this forum we recommend that any queries/comments regarding the various reports be submitted by email prior to the meeting so that they can be addressed on the night of the AGM.   See club website for further details including a full list of the outgoing club officers.  Nominations are invited for all positions.

Who are the other four? Mention of last week’s notes that Mikey Collins was joining next season SF management team and the fact that he was only one of five players in the 103 history of the Club to have played 50 or more SF Co. Championship games, some members were asking who were the other four.

Well two players now share the record with 59 appearances each, Ger O’Keeffe held that record on his own since 1992, but Kieran Donaghy reached the 59 mark in our first round game against Dr. Crokes last August. The other three players are Mikey Collins, as we have mentioned, with 53 games, Ger Power on 52 and William Kirby with 50 appearances.

Minors:  There was welcome news for our Kerry Minor players last Thursday as it was announced that the Munster Minor Football Semi Final V Cork has been fixed for Dec 15th in Austin Stack Park.  Austin Stacks have 7 players involved in this year’s panel – Ben Quilter, Joey Nagle, Jordan Kissane, Dean Rusk, Shane Bastible, Armin Heinrich and Conor Horan.  We wish the team the best of luck.

Sympathy:  All in the club and the local community were shocked and saddened to learn of the sudden death of Baby Sofia Chloe Duffy Linnane, Abbeydorney & Tralee.

Sofia was the one-year-old daughter of Katie Duffy and current Club footballer, Michael Linnane and a grand-daughter of Eamon Linnane, one of the club’s great workers.

Sincere sympathy is also offered to the families of the following who died recently; Bridget (Bea) Irwin (née Collins), Birr, Co. Offaly and formerly of Killeen, Oakpark (aunt of former club footballer Angela Collins), Patrick (Paudie) Fitzgerald, Oakpark and formerly Lispole (winner of the 1956 Rás Tailteann); James Healy, The Kerries West (uncle of Club Registrar & Ladies Club Treasurer Bernie Mannix); Eileen Murphy (née O’Connor), Brosna and formerly Knocknagoshel (mother of Kerry Co. Board Chairman, Tim Murphy); and Mary Leahy (née Quirke), Cloondara, Oakpark and formerly Lyre, Milltown (mother-in-law of former Club Chairman, Liam Lynch and grandmother of current players, Mark & Rory).
