MARCH IN THE PAST: On the field of play the third week in March (15th to 21st  incl) saw us win the 1954 Joe Barrett Memorial Cup Final (played 20th March 1955) when we had a three points win over John Mitchels (1-11 to 2-5). Then many years later Clubman, Billy Sheehan scored a hat-trick of goals for the Kerry U21s in their Munster Championship win over Tipperary (18th March 2000).

Then five years later (20th March 2005) our Seniors opened that year’s campaign with a good Co. League win away to An Ghaeltacht (2-10 to 0-8). That team lined out as follows: David Hennebery, Nessan Crean, Kenneth Leen, Brian Dennehy, Tommy Costello, David Leonard, Jonathan Magnier, Paul Hennebery, Daniel Bohan, Pa Laide (0-1), William Kirby (0-1), Denis Sayers, Pádraig McCannon (2-1), Darragh Long (0-3), Mikey Collins (0-4).

Off the pitch Aoife Ní Choileáin was again to the fore when she won her third County title in Scór Solo Singing in 2014 (15thMarch).

Finally the third week in March saw the passing of four outstanding Club members  – in 2001 (20th) Helen Dowling, one of the founding members of our Ladies Club; in 2008 (21st) Jimmy Barry, former player and Club Chairman; in 2011 (18th) Alan O’Donoghue, another former player and Club Chairman and in 2017 (17th) Denis O’Connor another outstanding all-rounder in the Club.
