NEW PATHWAY: Club Chairman, Billy Ryle has posted the following regarding our new pathway – It all began on Friday, 17th July 2020, the first day of the ten-day ‘Bracker 100km’ walk. The walk was an online fundraiser for a path between the main pitches in Connolly Park, the home of Austin Stacks GAA Club, Tralee.

The fabulous new path was laid last week by Eamonn Linnane Construction and is a huge addition to the infra-structure of our playing facilities. The new path will prevent footfall damage on the pitches and will facilitate disability access to the far terrace in Connolly Park.

My sincere thanks to Eamonn and to everybody who supported the walk.

GAME TIME: The Co. Board is currently finalizing its fixture list for the coming Club season and should be ready to release same shortly.

We still understand that teams will be given a 3 weeks lead in time and a revised Co. League format (6 teams per group) would go ahead from 13thJune to early August with the Senior Club Championship commencing in September following the conclusion of inter-county activity.

The Senior Co Championship is still scheduled to commence after the Club Championship is completed. In the meantime let us wish Kerry all the best as they take on Galway in Austin Stack Park on this coming Saturday in the opening round of the NFL and to congratulate the Kerry Hurlers on this win over Down at the week-end and wish them well when they play Offaly in Tullamore on this Sunday 16th May) in round 2 of the NHL.

LIDL SERIOUS SUPPORT: Thanks to everyone who supported the club during the recent Lidl ‘Serious Support’ Promotion. We were successful in earning enough reward points to secure a new Lidl Sponsored Jersey set for our Juvenile Academy.

MAY IN THE PAST: (8th to 14th). On the field of play in 1958 (11th May) our Senior Footballers had a good win over John Mitchels (2-5 to 1-4) in the opening round of that season’s Co. Championship. Team: Nicholas Hussey, Paddy O’Donnell, Tim Barrett, Christy McQuinn, John Barrett, Mick Ryan, Timmy McMahon, Kevin Barry (0-1), Bernard Francis (0-1), Jackie Merc Foley, Pa Fitzgerald (0-1), Bobby Miller (0-1), Des Hurley (1-0), Buddy Cashman (0-1), Pat Skeff Sheehy (1-0). Sub: Mick Dillane.

Eleven years before that – also on 11th May (1947) – our Seniors had another good win – this time in round two of the competition. We defeated Shannon Rangers that day by 2-3 to 1-5. Team: Joe Ryan, Tom O’Donnell, Seán Galvin, Joe Flaherty, Frank Kissane, Doc McHugh, Jack Slattery, Edmond Mundy Barry, Mick Barry, Ted Breen, Joe Kennington, Eamon Gal Slattery, David Fuller, Tadhg Crowley, Anselm Boyle.

During the second week in May three All Ireland U21 medals came to the Club. In 1990 Pa Laide and Kieran Browne were on the winning Kerry team as was Kenneth Leen in 1998.

Finally on the field of play (13th May 2012) Darragh O’Brien scored a hat-trick of goals in our 5-9 to 0-7 Co. League win against Spa Killarney – the first time a hat-trick of goals was scored by the Club in the Co. League since Eoin Moynihan achieved it in our 3-15 to 4-6 win over John Mitchels in 1991.

Off the pitch on 14th May 2011 Colin Teahon’s Company (PST Sport) became Club Sponsors. On 10th May the 2015season of RTE’s Sunday Game was launched with a live broadcast on Radio Éireann from our Clubhouse. Then on the 8th May 2020 the Club’s Run4Pieta , organized by Eamonn O’Reilly, took place.
