SENIOR FOOTBALL: The opening round of the Co. League takes place on this coming Thursday (St. Patricks Day). The game in Connolly Park against Gneeveguilla throws in at 2.30pm(note the time change). This will be the first Co. League meeting between the two sides since the 2012 season.

B FOOTBALL: Likewise, our B Team get their season underway with a trip to Tarbert for their round one encounter in Division 4 of the League. After a fantastic season last year under the stewardship of Paddy Barry we are now back in Division 4 for the time since 1990. Best of  luck to the whole squad for the coming season. The game in Tarbert is fixed for next Sunday (20th March) at 2pm.

CLUB PLAYERS: Great to see our Club players doing so well with the Kerry teams at the moment – Armin Heinrich, Joey Nagle, Adam Curran and Jordan Kissane winning medals with the U20 team after their 1-12 to 1-9 win over Dublin in the John Kerins Cup in Nenagh at the weekend and Dylan Casey and Greg Horan with the Kerry Senior. It’s also great to see the progress made by Joseph O’Connor who is back to full training with Kerry again after that nasty injury he picked up in the Munster Club Final exactly two months ago (16th Jan).

MINOR FOOTBALL: Laune Rangers 1-8; Austin Stacks 0-4. This Co. League round 2 game was another one of our early season games that was dominated by the dreadful weather in Killorglin on last Saturday afternoon (12th March). The conditions favoured the home side in the first half after which they were ahead by 0-7 to 0-3.

However, with the weather worsening we were unable to do a similar thing in the second half. Going into added time both sides had only scored a point each in that second period and then in the 62nd minute Rangers put the game to bed with a goal from a quickly-taken free. Paddy Lane scored all our four points, two from play and two from frees.

Team: Michael Tansley (Capt), Seán Moynihan, Luke Casey, Donnacha Horgan, Pádraig O’Halloran, Colm Browne, David Lucid, Thomas Derege, Daniel Kirby, Marc Carmody, Noah Townsend, Ciarán Kavanagh, Paddy Lane (0-4 – two frees), Damien Hogan, Mark Lynch.

Subs used: Seán Heaslip29m), Jack Barrett (37m).

We were to have had home games in our remaining three rounds – against Dr. Crokes (19th March), Kenmare Shamrocks (26thMarch) and Kilcummin (4th April). However, our game against Crokes on this coming Saturday has been switched to Lewis Rd due to pitch availability. The League will conclude with two semi finals and a final.

THE C TEAM: In preparation for their Co. League campaign which commences on Saturday week (26th March) with an away game  against Keel B  our C Team have a challenge game in Connolly Park against a visiting Belfast side on this Saturday afternoon (19th March) at 3.30pm. There will be refreshments in the Clubhouse afterwards.
