SENIOR FOOTBALL: With our round 8 game against Kerins O’Rahillys put back to Saturday week (18th June) our next Co. League outing is a round 9 game away to Ballymac on this Sunday afternoon (12th June) at 2pm.

B FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 3-14; Duagh 4-4.

With a superb starting 15 and an equally good bench our B Team chalked up a second victory in succession in round 8 of the Co. League played in Connolly Park on this Sunday afternoon (5th June) with a seven points winning margin at the end.

We recovered well from a Duagh goal inside the second minute and between then and half time out-scored the visitors by five points to three. Four of those points came from frees by Conor Myers with our fifth score also coming  from a long-distance free by Conor Horan. Duagh led by 1-3 to 0-5 at the break.

We were in total command during the second half adding a further seven points without reply during the opening eighteen minutes – with Donagh McKivergan and Conor Myers scoring two each from frees and a point each from play by Conor Horan, Jordan Kissane and Eoghan  Carroll.

Duagh’s first score of the half , a point from play, came in the 19th minutes and between then and full time it turned in to a goal-fest with both sides scoring three each – ours coming from Conor Myers, Gearóid Sheehan and Dara Barry Walsh, with our only point of the final quarter coming from Cian Purcell. And Conor Myers, with his unerring scores from frees and play, received the Celsius Mensware Man of the Match award.

With some back-games still to be played we are now out of the relegation zone for the first time since round 3 and if we continue to play like this in our remaining three games we have every chance of remaining in Division 4 for the coming season.

Team: Ben Quilter, Ruairí O’Connell, Paul Barrett, John Murphy, Luke Chester (0-1), Shane Walsh, Cian Dillane, Dara Barry Walsh (1-0), Eoghan Carroll (0-1), Ciarán O’Connell, Gearóid Sheehan (1-0), Conor Horan (0-2 – one free), Jordan Kissane (0-1), Donagh McKivergan (0-2 frees), Conor Myers (1-6 – six frees).

Subs used:  Joey Nagle (ht), Cian Purcell (0-1) (42m), John Carmody (42m), Daniel O’Rourke (52m), David Burke (55m).

We now travel to Keel on this Saturday evening (11th June) to play the home side in round nine of the League. Throw in at 7pm.

KERRY HURLERS: And what a performance by the Kerry Hurlers in the Joe McDonagh Cup Final. Down 12 points after 25 minutes they rallied to just be pipped by one point at the end of a pulsating game – 5-22 (37) to 4-24 (36) with Pádraig Boyle scoring a whopping 2-11 of Kerry’s total.
