SENIOR FOOTBALL; Due to the recent inclement weather, which left most pitches in unplayable conditions, the Tralee/St. Brendans League Final between ourselves and John Mitchels did not go ahead as scheduled last week-end. No new date has been fixed as we write.

The Co. League got underway last weekend but our home game against Spa was deferred. It will now go ahead on next Saturday, 25th March at 4pm.

SENIOR FOOTBALL C – DEVELOPMENT TEAMS

The Club has entered two teams (‘Black’ and ‘Amber’) into this year’s Development League, which was set up by the County Board in 2022 to give games to those players not playing in the Senior Football League, especially 18/19 year old players  Our ‘Black’ team has been drawn in Division 1 of this league and travel to play Fossa C in the opening round next Sunday 26th at 2pm, which is the same throw-in time for the ‘Amber’ team’s Division 5 away fixture against Duagh B.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 1-11; Kenmare Shamrocks 0-6.

With both sides topping the League table on six points each going into this round 4 game it was touch and go by both sides for the opening twenty minutes of the game with the sides on level terms at 0-4 each – our points coming from David Lucid (2), Ryan O’Driscoll and Alex Tuohy.

But we took complete control in the closing minutes of the half when we added a goal (Cormac Bastible) and three more points by Ronan Carroll, Thomas Deregee and Ryan O’Driscoll (his 2nd). This gave us a six points lead at the break (1-7 to 0-4).

Our lads put on a great second half performance holding a very dangerous opposition to just two more points while adding four more ourselves. Cormac was again on target with an early free in the 34th minute and then we had three superb long-distant points from play by team captain Daniel Kirby.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 1-13; An Ghaeltacht 2-10.

Our 5th and final round Co. League game that could have gone either way, ended in a draw after a great display by both sides. Played in a dry Mounthawk pitch we played against an almost gale-force wind in the first half and trailed by eight points at half time (2-7 to 1-2). Ryan O’Driscoll was our goal-scorer with our two points coming from Cormac Bastible.

Changes made by our back-room staff at half time, together with us playing with the favourable elements saw us wipe out that deficit as we scored eight unanswered points to draw level by the 49th minute (1-10 to 2-7).

In the final minutes of the game both sides scored three points each with the draw leaving us top of the table as we now await details of our forthcoming semi final game.
