Austin Stacks CrestCHURCH GATE COLLECTION: Our Annual Church Gate Collection takes place on next Saturday evening and Sunday morning (21st/22nd Nov).

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Round 2 of the SF Co. Championship Qualifier/Relegation, against St. Michaels/Foilmore, is due to go ahead  in Killorglin on next Saturday afternoon (21st Nov) at 2pm.

The winners of this game will then play the winners of the Ardfert .v. Laune Rangers game on a date and venue to be confirmed. We must win both games in order to save our Senior status for the coming season.

We also have a date with Killarney Legion in the Co. League play-off, with the winners to play Dr. Crokes in the Co. League Final. No dates or venues have been fixed for these games.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Our Minors travel to Gallarus on next Sunday (22nd Nov) to play An Ghaeltacht in the semi final of the Central League at 1pm. Dingle await the winners in the Final.

B FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 0-4; Valentia 5-4.

Two first half goals and three in the second half was the difference between the two sides at the end of this final game in this season’s Co. League (Div 5). It certainly made the three and a half hours round trip to Tralee (112 miles or 180km) by the Valentia boys worthwhile, even though they had already been promoted (along with Moyvane and near neighbours, Reenard) to Div 4 for the 2016 season.

The blustery conditions and a heavy pitch in Connolly Park on Saturday afternoon (14th Nov) didn’t allow for good open football. Valentia led at half time by 2-1 to 0-4 with all our scores coming in this opening half. Brían Mangan was on target twice with one each from Dale Counihan and Seán Fitzmaurice –all from play.

Team (13 a-side):Seán Purcell, Paul Galvin, No Full Back, John Murphy, Dylan Harnett, Seamus Bastible, Darragh Scanlon, Brían Mangan (Capt), 0-2), Philip Quilter, Dale Counihan (0-1), Oisín Fitzgerald, Shane Crowley, Seán Fitzmaurice (0-1), No Full Forward, Seán Dukes.

The Stat of 61 players lining out in the 15 games played during the season (we received a walk-over in another game) speaks for itself. Without a settled team it wasn’t easy to achieve positive results.

So great credit goes to team Mentors, Colm Mangan, Tim McMahon and John O’Sullivan and to all the players who lined out during the year.  John Murphy made the most appearances (13), followed closely by Seán Purcell (12), Dale Counihan (11) and Seán Dukes and Denis O’Neill with 10 each.

Top scorer was Kyle Fitzgibbon (1-20), followed by Darragh Long (1-18), Seamus Bastible (3-11), Seán Dukes (2-9) and Breandán Caball (0-11).

HURLING: Our Hurlers are due to travel to the Killeedy Club (about twelve miles beyond Abbeyfeale)  to play Cork’s Shanballymore in the first round (quarter final) of the Munster JH ‘B’ Championship. The game is fixed for Sunday week (29th Nov) at 2pm. The winners will go through to a semi final encounter against Broadford (Clare) on Sunday, 13th December at the same venue. The Munster Final then goes into the new year with Sunday, 31st January fixed for that game.

U21 FOOTBALL: As we write no date or venue has been fixed for the U21F Co. Club Final (Shield Section) between ourselves and Templenoe. The Templenoe Seniors are, of course, involved in the semi final of the Munster JF Club Championship. That game, against Bandon, is fixed for this Saturday (21st Nov) at 2pm in Clonakilty with the Final fixed for 6th December. We wish Templenoe every success in their quest for Munster and All Ireland glory and also the best of luck to St. Marys who are chasing similar glory in the Intermediate Championship
