PAUL LUCEY RUN. The Paul Lucey Run for the Rock is back again for 2023 and will take place on next Bank Holiday Monday (1st May).

This year the Run will be followed by a Family Fun Day for Adults and Children of the Club and the wider community. We are hoping to encourage as may kids, teenagers, parents, grandparents, friends and family members to get outdoors that day to run or walk the 5km promoting health and positivity within the Club and the community.

The event will begin at the entrance to the Austin Stacks Clubhouse at 11am and will take in the traditional enjoyable route up Caherslee and down the Skinny Mile section of the Greenway. Registration is now open on www.eventbrite.ie or on the morning of the event from 9.30am to 10am.

SENIOR FOOTBALL. Kerins O’Rahillys 1-14; Austin Stacks 1-15.

Ahead by six points at halftime (1-8 to 0-5) and with the wind favouring the home side in the second half our boys put up a brilliant show during that second period in Strand Road to come away with their first Co. League win of the season on last Sunday afternoon (23rd April).

The victory moves us up one notch in the table but still leaves in the 3rd from bottom position ahead of Gneeveguilla and Desmonds.

Team: Ben Quilter, Niall Fitzmaurice, Barry Shanahan, Dylan Casey, Paul O’Sullivan, Greg Horan, Ronan Shanahan (Joint Capt), Michael O’Donnell (0-1 free), Michael O’Gara (0-1), Eoghan Carroll, Donagh McKivergan (0-2), David Fitzmaurice, Seán Quilter (0-7 – four frees), Shane O’Callaghan (Joint Capt) (1-4), David Mannix.

Subs used: Shane Carroll, Fiachna Mangan, Colm Browne, Conor Myers, Shane Bastible.

After the game Seán Quilter received the Celsius Mensware Man of the Match Award.

We now travel to Rathmore (currently fifth in the table) for a round 5 game on this coming week-end.

At the moment the game is fixed for Sunday (30th April) at 2pm.

B FOOTBALL. Finuge 0-5; Austin Stacks 0-5.

On a sunny, breezy Sunday afternoon (23rd April) our B team travelled to table-toppers, Finuge and came back home with a share of the points after a relatively tough, low-scoring game.

The home side got off to a lively start and were ahead by three points to no score after the opening eleven minutes.

We held them scoreless then for the rest of the half while adding two points ourselves from a Ciarán O’Connell one from play after good work by Gearóid Sheehan and a well-taken free by Damien Hogan after a foul on Cillian Litchfield.

Scoring was exactly the same in the second half except we scored the three points to two for Finuge. Damien Hogan was again on target for us with two more pointed frees with our third and equalizing point coming on the stroke of full time – a brilliant effort from Evan Foley.

Well done to Damien Hogan who was making his Senior team debut and came away the Celsius Man of the Match Award.

Team: Brian Horgan, Greg Scanlon, Ruairí O’Connell, John Murphy, Luke Casey, Luke Chester, Joe Reidy, Cillian Litchfield, Dean Rusk, Ciarán O’Connell (0-1), Gearóid Sheehan, Evan Foley (0-1), Noah Townsend, Pa McCarthy, Damien Hogan (0-3 frees).

Subs used: Andrew Morrissey (51m), Dean Scanlon (53m), Seán Moynihan (53m).

We now have three more rounds to play, the first of these is a home game on this coming week-end against Laune Rangers (fixed for Sunday, 30th April at 2pm) who are just one place ahead of us on the current League table (they are in 5th position with ourselves in 6th spot). We then have an away game against Ballylongford (w/e 14th May) who are 7th and last spot on the table and our final round game is at home to Duagh (w/e 21st May) who are currently in 3rd position.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Austin Stacks 3-12; Ardfert 2-6.

On a fine dry evening in Connolly Park our Minors won the first round (of three) of the Central League  with a comfortable win over Ardfert.

We now have away games in our remaining two rounds against Keel/Listry on next Monday (1st May) and against Glenbeigh/Glencar/Cromane on the following Monday (8th May).

THE C TEAM:

After a defeat away to Fossa in round 1 and a bye in round  we now have a home game in round 3 against Rathmore on the week-end of 6th May.

THE D TEAM.

After missing our opening Co. League game away to Duagh a few weeks ago (an unplayable pitch in Duagh due to the adverse weather) and a brilliant win in the teams first ever game last week (winning at home against Scartaglin) we are now due to travel to Beaufort for a round 3 game on the week-end of 6th May.
