Austin StacksCLUB MEMBERSHIP: Bernie Mannix informs us that anybody wishing to pay their 2015 membership may do so on this Wednesday night (18th March) at the Clubhouse from 8 to 9.

SENIOR FOOTBALL: With both ourselves and O’Rahillys having already qualified for the Final there was no need to play round 4 of the Town League last weekend. The final, between both teams, is due to take place on the weekend of Sat/Sun 4th/5th April.
The Co. League gets underway this weekend but our game, against Waterville, has been refixed for Sunday, 3rd May. So our next competitive game will be our round 2 tie in the Co. League, away to Kilcummin, which is due to go ahead on the weekend after next (28th/29th March).

For the first time since 1993 our B team is back in the Senior League (in Div 5). Our first game, on Sunday next (22nd March), sees us travelling south to play Sneem/Derrynane for a 2pm throw-in in Sneem.

MINOR FOOTBALL: Dingle 3-15; Austin Stacks 0-6

Our Minors did not have a good day at the office in sunny Dingle on last Saturday afternoon (14th March) in round 3 of the Co. League. The home side, sprinkled with a host of the Pobal Scoil team that recently became Munster Champions, led by 1-10 to 0-2 at half time. Our two scores came from Louis Ryle, a beautiful effort from an acute angle in the 6th minute, and a pointed free by Ferdia O’Brien in the 22nd minute following a foul on Jack O’Shea.

In fairness to our boys they did respond well to Gene O’Donnell’s half time urgings and, on another day, could have landed at least three second half goals. But luck was not on our side and Dingle went on to add a further 2-5 while our tally amounted to four in that second half – two more frees by Ferdia and one each from play by Darren Bastible and Calvin Foley.

We were unfortunate to lose the services of Darragh Scanlon to an injury, eleven minutes into the game .
Despite the heavy defeat some positives can be taken from the game including the welcome return to the first 15 by Cathal O’Reilly

Team: Daniel Kinsella, Dylan Hennebery, Colin Griffin (Capt), Pádraig Looney, Darragh Scanlon, Jack O’Shea, Ciaran O’Reilly, Calvin Foley (0-1), Philip Quilter, Cathal O’Reilly, Jack Morgan, Louis Ryle (0-1), Ferdia O’Brien (0-3frees), Darren Bastible (0-1), Sean Dukes..

Subs used: Fergal Ryan (11m), Sean Fitzmaurice (39m), Cian Liston (39m), Seán Tansley (46m), Jason Roche (55m), Mike Kenny (57m).
Our round 4 Co. League tie (at home to O’Rahillys) is not scheduled to go ahead until Good Friday (3rd April), but we are due to play Na Gaeil in the last round of the Town League on next Saturday (21st) March). This game, in Connolly Park, is fixed for 4pm.

U21 FOOTBALL: We wish the Kerry U21 team (including our own Greg Horan and Conor Jordan) the best of luck as they travel to Pairc Ui Rinn on this Wednesday evening (18th March) to play Cork in the Munster semi final. Throw in 7.30pm.
