SYMPATHIES:

Déanaimid comhbhrón le Tralee CBS (v St. Brendans, Killarney) nár éirigh leo i gCraobhchluiche Chorn Uí Shúilleabháin an tseachtain seo caite.

SLAUGHTNEIL:

Slaughtneil (Leacht Uí Néill / Burial Mound or Stone of the Ó Néill) has no school, no church, no post office, no pub, not even a shop! The only landmark in the half parish of 70/80 or so houses in the hinterland of Maghera is the GAA ground. It stands there in dignified isolation complete with stand, terracing, community centre and a training field reclaimed from what used to be a patch of scrub behind the main pitch. Leacht Uí Néill is hardcore Ulster GAA territory. Most places its size would long ago have been absorbed into the identity of another larger club or parish but Slaughtneil has not just survived, it has thrived. Club colours: maroon and white. They’re sometimes called ‘The Robbies’ (Robert Emmets). And it’s not far from Draperstown where our Under 14s of ‘13 went to play in the Féile.

BAINISTEOIRÍ: Stephen Stack v Mickey Moran.
