PEIL FAOI 6: The bad news: only three more Sundays left in our football season! We look forward to the final of the Jimmy Barry Cup Competition which will be played on October 30th. Beidh peil gan sárú le feiceáil! Lá mór a bheidh ann i gcuimhne Jimmy.

PEIL FAOI 7/8/9/10: Our boys had a great time and played great football at the Siobhán Cotter Blitz in Churchill on Sunday last. The combined scores of all our teams ensured that The Rock retained the prestigious Siobhán Cotter Trophy. We say ‘well done’ to players, mentors and parents. Thanks to Club na bPiarsach, Cnoc na hEaglaise, for the invite and the hospitality. See you all again on Sunday morning next, boys!

CAID FAOI 11: We are getting ready for our annual trip to the Na Piarsaigh Club in Mayfield (Gort Álainn), Cork. It will take place on October 22nd. Training continues on Sundays at 5pm in Connolly Park. We’ll be ready for it!!

PEIL FAOI 12: The final of the 2nd annual Charlie Healy Cup Competition brought a clabhsúr to our season’s sessions! Four outstanding teams lined out in the cup and plate finals and outstanding caid was played. The Charlie Healy Memorial Cup was presented to Donnacha Óg Sayers by Ena Healy on behalf of the Healy family which was well represented at the event. Man-of-the-Match awards were presented to Josh Lynch (cup final) and to Michael Lesniak (plate final). Ena also presented medals to the winning teams. Player-of-the-Year awards were presented to John Duggan, Jamie Horgan and Niall Brosnan. Merit award recipients were Declan Lacey and James Riordan. Denis Sayers, who coordinated the presentation of the end-of-year awards to the large group of Under 12 footballers, thanked all who were involved in making the Healy Tournament a success. He also thanked all players, mentors and parents who gave great commitment throughout the year! See Adrienne’s pictures on www.austinstacks.ie.

PEIL FAOI 14: Our Bs were unlucky (away) v K-O’R in the final round (Roinn 3) of their competition…7-19 to 3-9. Beidh la eile acu, le cúnamh Dé!

PEIL FAOI 16: (i) The Tralee Area U16s, with 10 good Rockmen on board, defeated East Kerry in the County Championship Plate Final in Firies on Sunday last….4-13 to 4-9. That was a great victory as our lads, who were trailing by 0-9 at half time, had to put in a storming second half display to claim the title by 0-4! Mighty! The Rock players on the panel: David Oba, James Quigley, Donagh McMahon, Seán Quilter, Dylan Casey (captaen), Daniel O’Rourke, Gearóid Sheehan, Michael Slattery, Dean Scanlon and David Couchman. Comhghairdeachas le himreoirí agus le meantóirí. Gaisce ollmhór ba ea é sin! (ii) We’ll play Na Gaeil in the final game of the season….the Bordcheantar Thrá Lí Divison 2 Final. Up The Rock!

TEMPUS FUGIT: Another season is tumbling towards its end! Our swallows are gone to South Africa and we look forward to the arrival of the Brent geese from the western shores of Canada! A lot of flying! And a lot of football played by the Black’n’Ambers!!
