PEIL FAOI 6/8/10: Our indoor/Astro season is now complete. We’ll break from football to march in Sunday’s parade and on the following Saturday (23ú Marta) we’ll play our first matches of the season when we travel to Legion Killarney. Tá An Charraig ag máirseáil!
SCÓR NA bPÁISTÍ: ‘Well done’ to our solo singer, Aoife Trant, who did us proud at the Greater Tralee Area Scór na bPáistí on Wednesday at the Killeen Club.
SAOIRE SA GHAELTACHT? The GAA (Bord Chiarraí, Bord Thrá Lí, Comhairle na Mumhan), in conjunction with Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne, is offering a limited number of part-scholarships to youth members (ages 12 to 17 years) of GAA clubs. These GAA-sponsored scholarships will enable club members to participate in residential courses to improve their spoken Irish. The young students will be based in the Corca Dhuibhne (West Kerry) Gaeltacht for 2/3 weeks during the summer. Over the years, many young members of The Rock Club experienced these Cúrsaí Gaeilge and thoroughly enjoyed their participation in lessons, sport, music, song and dance in an ‘Irish’ environment. Interested applicants are asked to text their names to 087 6606693 asap. Closing date set for 20th April (Holy Saturday). PEIL FAOI 12: (i) The Timberlands Kitchen and Floors Town League continued on Saturday last with matches against Ballymac (as baile) and Churchill (ag baile). Despite a couple of late defections, our boys played excellent football against our Ballymac hosts in the A game. A last kick goal allowed the home team to deservedly level matters on the stroke of the hour. The overall match standard was very high indeed….right from the first whistle. Well done, boys! (ii) Our B team was set an extremely difficult task against a Churchill A side that will be no less than 7 divisions ahead of them in the upcoming Timberlands Kitchen and Floors County League. The boys gave of their all throughout the game with a display of commitment and skill that was a credit to the Black’n’Amber. A few more challenge games lie in store over the coming weeks and our boys can look forward to the continued improvement that we’ve observed in recent weeks. Onwards and upwards!

The game was played in hail showers and in gale force winds agus ‘bhí fiacail an tseaca sa ghaoth ón gcnoc’ (Máire Mhac a’tSaoi) but these hardy boys didn’t allow the elements to get in the way of a great team performance. PEIL FAOI 16: (i) We had a great fundraising drive last Saturday as our faithful stalwarts decended on the town centre for a street collection. We thank the very generous people of Tralee for their very kind and welcome support. Míle buíochas to Garvey’s ‘Supervalu’ Supermarket for their continued support . (ii) Training this week will switch to Wednesday and Friday evenings with starting times of 5.45pm (17:45). (iii) The ‘Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee’ Central League is due to begin next Monday 18th March and we have entered TWO teams for this year’s competition. We look forward to working with the Under 14 boys to ensure that we remain competitive throughout the season.
